Our mission is to offer educational resources and
financial support to families with preemies.

Our daughter, Kaitrin was born 14 weeks early, weighing 2 pounds. She spent 75 days in the hospital and came home on oxygen therapy and an apnea monitor. Initially, we were fortunate enough to have great insurance during our experience with Kaitrin. However, as we changed insurances and lost one income, we also learned that we also did not qualify for medical assistance. Upon entering into the RSV season, the realization set in as to how much money we were going to need to keep our little girl healthy. This was a challenge, but we got through it and are now working on helping others who find themselves facing a similar journey.

Kaitrin's Klub is being established to help families with financial support for equipment and other medical costs. As a mother of a preemie and a registered dietitian, I have created a website with links and lists of information to that can serve as a great resource to families with preemies.

Feel free to contact us at any time with questions, but please remember that our site information can not replace that of medical personnel.

WHO WE'VE HELPED

Baby Corrie

Here is a story written by Corrie's mother. It sheds light on the emotions surrounding premature births. Read it, let it inspire you, and use your heart to help out.

Little Miss Arianna was born at 24 weeks at 13 ounces in a city about an hour from her family's home. Mom and dad needed to travel back and forth to see her. Miss Arianna's sister Alisia stayed at home, not able to meet her yet. As most families in this situation, cost of care and travel take over everyday expenses. Mom was very worried that Miss Alisia would not be able to have a Christmas.
The revenue from selling our handmade Pin-up aprons at the fabulous Bink Davies, we were able to send mom presents for Miss Alisia for Christmas.
Yes Miss Alisia, there is a Santa Claus!

November was Prematurity Awareness Month. With their creativity and caring hearts, the residents of Wesley Ridge Retirement Community made 13 soft, colorful fleece blankets to donate to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio. Families will use these blankets when they hold their little preemies during Kangaroo Care. Kangaroo Care is when mom holds baby skin to skin. This promotes baby’s circulation and digestion as well as helps bonding.

Kaitrin’s Klub delivered these blankets on behalf of the wonderful ladies that have such big, caring hearts! Thank you!

Kaitlyn was born at 35 weeks. Kaitlyn received the Synagis shots to protect her lungs from RSV. Kaitrin's Klub was able to help her family pay some of their co-payments for the shots.

Anthony and Meshack are twin boys born at 33 weeks. Although Meshack has reactions to the Synagis injection, Anthony still received shots through RSV season. Kaitrin's Klub was able to help Anthony's family with money to help pay for those shots.

 HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT

It is important to monitor the development of preemies to ensure that they stay on track with their corrected age. Look for early intervention within your state to help your preemie continue to develop.

Lead Poisoning Facts

Having a preemie is against all pregnancy plans - no one hopes for this, no one wishes for this, no one should ever have to go through this. But it does happens and that is just a fact. The March of Dimes and Preemie Magazine states that over 500,000 preemies are born each year.

This picture is of Kaitrin on July 28th - she is 3 weeks old.

Support for any full term siblings

Older siblings to a preemie - especially full term siblings - can sometimes feel as though they are not a priority. Preemies need more time, care, and equipment - including oxygen, therapy, and monitors. Check out Jacob's Jamboree for some ideas on including a full term sibling into the 'preemie way of life'.
