7-7-06 Well, little miss is going into a sitting position from all fours! She still isn't crawling, but she can scoot to anything she wants. Her new loves are Mickey Mouse - squeals when she sees him on TV, red colors - squeals and throws her arms around to get whatever is red, and mirrors - what a big smile when she sees herself.
6-9-07 Kaitrin is getting better at holding her own bottle. She is now 11 months old (8 months corrected). She has issues with keeping her arms down and at midline when they are resting. She is really liking her new teething biscuits. They make a mess and dry like cement, but she loves them! And she is beginning to push up on her knees and hands...she is going to be crawling soon!
6-19-07 Kaitrin and I shared a pre-run banana. I think that she would have eaten the whole thing if I had let her! Today was also Development Assessment Day...kind of a D-Day to us "need to be perfect" moms. Her weight and height for her age is very appropriate. Her speech is good - eating, mouth movement, and sounds. But, her fine and gross motor skills are in the 7 month range and she should be in the 8 month range. Feeling a little bummed, but she is strong enough to make it this far...a little PT and she will catch up! The next D-day is in November...so the training begins.
6-27-07 Kaitrin has always done this – she looks at you hand lovingly, takes it with her two little hands, and then like a piranha – bites a finger. Well, yesterday a little sliver of a tooth hit my skin as she clenched down. Teeth! Yeah! And I have been informed that I myself didn’t get teeth until I was about one, so it’s just her genes…not the prematurity!
Winter/Spring 2007
1-4-07 Kaitrin had her first cold, which took us to the ER (Thanks go out to Terry who braved the cold to come listen to her lungs!) where we were given a BBG machine. Did you know that BBG stands for Baby Booger Getter...this helped to suction her nose out.
RICE CEREAL
4-2-07 BIG GIRL - Kaitrin is sleeping in her big girl crib. Since she is getting so big, her bassinet is crowding her. On the flip side, she looks so small in the big crib!
4-10-07 Kaitrin made the chart! She placed in the 5% on the growth chart for weight.
5-1-07 Kaitin is rolling over and balancing in a sitting position. She isn't crawling yet, but is pushing herself backwards. She also pushes backwards when she sleeps, so we find her at the bottom of her crib in the mornings! This isn't far from what she did in the NICU, she was a climber there too!
